However, to download applications from the App Store or receive iOS updates, an Apple ID is necessary. Additionally, the iCloud ID ensures that data files are backed up from the device to the cloud storage. This way, when a device becomes inaccessible, the data remains securely stored in the cloud, allowing for easy retrieval and synchronization with a new device, hassle-free.
Here are the items that will be lost upon deletion:
- Purchases made through the Apple App Store, including Apple Books, paid subscriptions, and remaining balance on the App Store.
- All iCloud-Stored photos, videos, & documents will be removed.
- Facetime, iMessage & iCloud E-mails, Keychain Passwords, Game Center.
If you have plans to use your Apple ID in the future, there is an alternative option available: temporarily deactivating your account. This allows you to regain access at a later time. However, if you still intend to delete your account, it is crucial to ensure that you back up your files beforehand & Remove the linked devices.
- Step 1: Sign in on the Apple Privacy Homepage with your Apple ID.
- Step 2: Under “Manage your data” select “Delete your account”.
- Step 3: Select a reason for deleting your account and choose “Continue”.
- Step 4: Provide a contact that Apple can send you deletion information to. This contact will provide you with the access code to request the deletion.
- Step 5: Select “Delete account”. Deleting your Apple account can take up to 7 days.
